Effervescent
Objective: The goal of this project was to find a sustainable design approach, without compromising a bold and unique look. Utilizing an interchangeable and fully reversible construction, allowed for expanded color and styling options within a minimal number of pieces. This modular system supports garment longevity and mindful consumption, staying true to the values of slow fashion.
System: Every piece in the line is fully reversible, with skirts that can be styled alone or paired with either compatible zippered top. The two main skirt pieces also feature detachable bottom panels, allowing the wearer to choose between a longer color-blocked look or a simple mini silhouette. By mixing and matching the compatible zipper tracks, the wearer can transform the outfit’s colorway and shape instantly.

Design Process

While first researching reversible garments, I quickly noticed that the majority of reversible or convertible options were casual, or sportswear, and typically in subdued or practical colors. I saw the lack of bold, exciting, reversible colors and truly convertible occasionwear, which inspired me to design pieces with both in mind.
Research, Color & Moodboard:

Research: Market research on womenswear brands proved the market for bold, stand-out pieces and colors, as well as convertible clothing and reversible pieces.
Inspiration: One inspiration in particular was a piece featured in the Goldstein Museum of Design’s 1980s exhibit. It incorporated a metal zipper running through the garment. Though the original zipper was not fully functional, it inspired me to integrate zippers into my own designs as connectors.

The Concept The mood and concept for this line started with a deep dive into the 60s and 70s, landing on the sweet spot between Mod geometry and disco glamour. I wanted to capture the playful, transformative energy of the era but give it a sharper, more editorial edge.
The Palette The color story is all about high-contrast energy. Pairing neutrals like liquid silver and deep black with a technicolor palette of magenta, burnt orange, and vivid red. Choosing these specific shades was less about a single look, but the foundation for bold color-blocking and effortless transformation.
